Prayer for Today

As the days go by
my youthful appearance fades
I begin to look within
where true beauty lays

How much beauty I find depends
on the time and effort I have put in
have I any or have I none
how many battles have I won but lost
or lost but won

Today this does not matter
for today is a brand new day
a brand new beginning
to live life in a brand new way

Today I shall put in time and effort
to let my true beauty shine
to others I will offer
love, comfort, encouragement,
support and understanding
and leave my yesterdays behind
